I opened Bustle in November of 2014 primarily as a recycle clothing and accessories shop with a firm focus on quality and design. I source clothing and accessories made with quality materials and with a manufacturing provenance to ensure they were ethically made. I have always decried fast fashion so the focus was on interesting pieces which would last and fit and give pleasure to the wearer.
I have been involved with fashion since my teens as a keen maker myself (sewer, knitter, dyer, printer) and have worked with designers and retailers in Australia and New Zealand. Fashion is my interest and time and experience has taught me a lot about manufacturing techniques and designers in New Zealand and internationally.
Bustle stocks some New Zealand brands (including our our own Bustle brand) but in 2024 (and again in 2025) I went to Paris fashion week and connected with designers that aligned with my interests. I admire and seek out creative, well made, interesting and authentic clothing, shoes and accessories that come from
interesting people with a story to tell and a passion for their craft.

So in NZ I now stock offerings from 20 odd different European and Japanese brands which are exclusive to Bustle. Most of my suppliers are small batch producers and some make distinctive and unique pieces which are the result of hand making techniques.
What I like to do is make connections with people. My suppliers often become friends. I am proud of the ranges I stock as they fulfil all my criteria of being beautiful, eminently wearable and useful, while being very well made and sustainable. My customers come and visit Bustle to chat and see what I have and I get great satisfaction from helping them find the right pieces that fit together.
I sell the recycle pieces online and in the store but there is much, much more to see at Bustle.
